The crosses were also changed to stained-glass windows. The crosses on top of the churches were replaced with a taller-looking spire, similar to a pointier steeple. Much like in EarthBound, all religious symbols were removed, which included the priest’s rosary. Interestingly enough, all of these were carried over into the MOTHER 1+2 revision of the game. Most of them had minor edits, such as stripes on Ninten’s shirt that were changed to follow more in line with his clay model. The appearance of some of the characters in MOTHER were based on Peanuts characters. It has no practical usage the ring was replaced in EarthBound Beginnings with the Repel Ring. The Friendship Ring, in-game written as FrndshpRing, as it appears in the Japanese version of the game. Of course, the original title graphics can still be present in the CHR bank used for the introduction text this bank is swapped out and replaced with the Earth Bound CHR before the title screen begins. In EarthBound Beginnings, the introduction text was grammatically corrected and the golden MOTHERlogo was replaced with a red Earth Bound.
